 Jo
Angelia Waters Walker was born in
Salzburg, Austria and resided in Vicenza, Italy until the age of two
when her family was relocated by the military to Ft. Campbell,
Kentucky.
A year later her
family was transferred to Bamberg, Germany for a three year tour. Jo
Angelia began her formal education in Bamberg's American Schools.
She attended the Protestant Chapel, Sunday school, Youth Training,
and Bible School.
At the age of
eight, the family was relocated to Ft. Lewis, Washington where she
continued her education in the military schools and continued her
spiritual education in the military chapels.
The family again,
relocated to San Antonio, Texas when she was ten years of age. Jo
Angelia graduated from St. Gerard High School where she was a member
of Who's Who among High School Students. She received her Bachelor
(Physical Education/Health) and Masters (Sociology) Degrees from
Southwest Texas State University, in San Marcos, Texas. She
is also certified to teach Generic Special Education in the State of
Texas. She has been an Instructor of Sociology in the Department of
Social Behavioral Sciences at St. Philip’s Community College in San
Antonio, Texas for the last 12 years. From 2003-2004 she served as
Coordinator for Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Social Work.
Jo Angelia was
baptized at Wheatley Heights Baptist Church and later joined New
Light Baptist Church where she participated in various ministries.
She joined the Antioch family in 1989. Two years later, in 1991 she
and Dr. E. Thurman Walker were married. They are the proud parents
of two children, T.J. Neal and Kimberly Benford Johns and the proud
grandparents of Miss Raizel RayeAnn Neal and Miss Sabriya Marie
Johns.
Sis. Walker participates in various ministries of the church, such
as the Ministers and Deacon Wives Ministry, College Ministry, Rites
of Passage Program as a Mentor of the High School Boys & Girls
Class, Mass Choir and Mission Chorus Ministries and co-teaches with
Pastor in the New Member Orientation Sunday School Class.
Sis. Walker also has
a gift for writing and directing Christian dramas and plays. She is
outgoing with a heart of love and a spirit of giving and is known
for speaking of God’s Word throughout the city and state of Texas.
She regards speaking as her opportunity to share what God has done
and is doing in her life and what He can do in the lives of others.
